Amy Graves | Permeable Patterns
Amy Graves, Bachelorthesis 2025
Grassblock is a modular system consisting of eight lawn stones with variable permeability and stability, depending on how much surface is exposed. When arranged, the Grassblocks can be moved and rotated as needed, so that they can form gradients and patterns and adapt to complex spaces. With the planning tool Permeable Patterns, the lawn stones are arranged parametrically, allowing them to be placed in the urban space with minimal planning time. This enables the widespread implementation of water-permeable paving to counteract the increasing soil sealing of cities.
