Chen Chi-Chun | Adaptiv – Illuminated partition module

Chen Chi-Chun, Master Thesis 2015

ADAPTIV is a modular, illuminated partition system for co-working spaces. The purpose of my project is to empower people to create a private workspace, while still being able to participate in social interaction. My concept helps to change the way people arrange and share space by allowing for an individual rhythm in shifting between privacy and public work phases. My project is also based on a series of material experiments which include the development of a 2D surface which can be transformed into a 3D shape by utilizing the elasticity of both the membrane and the plastic carrier. The characteristics of these materials guided me to come up with this solution.
