Dawei Yang | Die Ästhetik der additiven Fertigungsformen

Dawei Yang, Master Thesis 2015

The master project „the aesthetics of additive manufacturing“ is an attempt to redefine the design and manufacturing process of porcelain through 3D printing technologies. With a self-build paste extruder it became possible to create shapes as one continuous helix in piling the material onto the platform by the programmed movement of the printer ́s nozzle. A designed interface allows to create various shapes and textures. The digitally controlled printing process combined with the inherent properties of the material reacting to gravity and other physical parameters creates an unique and new aesthetic that merges precision with randomness.
