If the course of toy history has created a toy for adults, it ́s the toy construction kit as it translates traditional principles of engineering and architecture into a form that is intuitively understandable. Moreover, it provides basic knowledge of physics and design that we later unconsciously built upon in everyday life. I consider an adult attitude being a sustainable attitude towards our environment. “BionicToys” is an addition to LEGO that makes it possible to mimic bionic principles by using flexible building blocks. It aims at giving an insight into nature‘s motion principles as well as communicating current research in bionics: learning from and with mother nature through BionicToys.
