Nina Rossow | Begreifen Erfassen Handhaben
Nina Rossow, Bachelor Thesis 2015
This project is demonstrating new forms of interaction and potential information transfer by testing the scope of haptic interactions. Three experimental objects explore the hand‘s intuitive capacities and exemplify both the physical and cognitive concept of the term ‚to grasp‘. Deforming a flexible material results in a change of pitch. Sliding along a strap generates acoustic signals which describe mathematical sequences or functions. The third object, a textile membrane, translates mechanical impulses to the palm of your hand; one tap or vibration can vary in location, direction and intensity and therefore communicate diverse and very specific information.
