Upholstered furniture is an established part of everyday life. However the problem of its high ecological impact and low recyclability is more relevant than ever. The aim of this thesis was to investigate the potential of the industrial production and packaging method ‘wrapping’ for the manufacture of upholstered furniture. The insights gained serve as the basis for the design of the Soft Bounce sofa. The sofa avoids the use of foam and is characterized by a fast production time, low weight and good recyclability without compromising on comfort.
