Verena Bachl, Karsten Schuhl, Bachelor Thesis 2015
There are many things beyond the edge of our perception, things like electromagnetic fields, ultrasonics or UV light. What would happen if we perceived the world in a totally different way, if there is an auditive world hiding behind its visual mask? Is there something like the tone of all things going unheard, a secret natural frequency? „Synphon“ converts visual data of depth measurement by use of infrared light into auditive data, representing a missing link between the visual and auditive perception. Light is turning into sound – a union of vision and audition is created by a synesthetic object.
