Orientation is an important requirement to be and feel save while doing outdoor activities. Interactive maps offer a lot of functions, but are mostly screen-based. This is not an appropriate interaction for outdoor activities.
W Y L D is a concept for an interactive navigation system combining a smartphone application with an intelligent belt. The belt sends tactile signals to create a seamless navigation experience. The system can also warn in case of dangerous weather conditions or advise users to take a break. Rather than stimulating the user to increase their performance, the system encourages the user to enjoy nature during outdoor activities.
